- “We’re signed,” Jackman quipped to PEOPLE. “I’ve got the papers inside.”
- Song Sung Blue will be in theaters starting December 25.
Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson appear to be contemplating the idea of a tour.
The co-stars of Song Sung Blue are diving into the live music scene ahead of the film’s December 25 release. In the movie, Jackman, 57, and Hudson, 46, portray Mike and Claire Sardina, a real-life married couple who establish a Neil Diamond tribute band named Lightning & Thunder in Milwaukee.
Mirroring their cinematic roles, the duo has been performing at various events while promoting the film. In October, Hudson joined Jackman on stage at one of his last concerts at Radio City Music Hall to sing Diamond’s classic hits “Cherry, Cherry” and “Sweet Caroline.” They also delivered an unforgettable impromptu performance after the Gotham Awards, where they were honored with a Musical Tribute award.
At the premiere of Song Sung Blue on December 11, Jackman, who is one award shy of achieving EGOT status, joked that they were planning an actual tour.
“We’re signed,” he said with a wink. “I’ve got the papers inside. And we’re not starting the screening until you’ve signed it.”
Hudson quickly kept pace with his humor, responding that she would only “do it” under “coercion.”
“I wanted 15 years and she’s negotiating me down to 12,” Jackman remarked. “We’ll see,” Hudson quipped in response.

Recently, Jackman completed a successful 24-show run of Hugh Jackman: From New York, With Love at Radio City Music Hall, which lasted from January to October. He is known for his vocal performances in The Greatest Showman and Les Misérables, in addition to his stage work in the 2022 revival of The Music Man and his Tony Award-winning role in The Boy from Oz.
Hudson is making strides in her solo music career, having released her debut album Glorious in May 2024, with notable performances at renowned venues like the Roxy in Los Angeles and the BottleRock Napa Valley festival earlier in the year.

Additionally, Jackman and Hudson recently performed together in a more personal setting: at Neil Diamond’s home. Given their current involvement with his music, it was only fitting that Diamond invited them to perform at a dinner he hosted.
Jackman shared, “When you go to Neil’s place for dinner and he says, ‘Do you wanna do karaoke?’ 100% you say yes, but make sure your phone is charged and someone is videoing that.”
