Hoda Kotb Will Fill In for Savannah Guthrie on ‘Today’ While Nancy Guthrie is Away
Hoda Kotb is set to continue her role as co-host of the Today show during Savannah Guthrie’s absence, following the ongoing search for Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie.
Reports confirm that Kotb will remain in the anchor chair beside Craig Melvin. She recently returned to the NBC morning program on February 6 to support Guthrie amid her mother’s troubling situation.
Since her departure in January 2025, Kotb has made sporadic appearances on the Today show. She has co-hosted with Savannah Guthrie since 2018.
In September 2024, Kotb announced her plans to leave the show at the beginning of 2025. In a memo to staff, she expressed her mixed emotions, stating, “They say two things can be right at the same time, and I’m feeling that so deeply right now. I love you and it’s time for me to leave the show.” She reflected on her decision, noting that her sixtieth birthday celebration felt like a pivotal moment, leading her to focus more on her family.
The search for Savannah Guthrie’s mother is now entering its fifth week. In a recent video message, Guthrie announced that the family is offering a reward of up to $1 million for information regarding Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts.
“We still believe in a miracle. We still believe that she can come home,” Savannah Guthrie shared. “Hope against hope, as my sister says, ‘We are blowing on the embers of hope.’ We also know that she may be lost. She may already be gone. If this is what is to be, then we will accept it, but we need to know where she is. We need her to come home.”
