Boys’ and Girls’ Championship Game Schedule for High School Soccer
High School Soccer Championships Set to Kick Off
The City Section and Southern Section high school soccer championships will take place this weekend, featuring several competitive matches in various divisions.
City Section Matches on Saturday
The City Section championships will unfold at Pasadena City College and Birmingham High School. In the Open Division, #3 Birmingham and #7 Venice will face off against the top-seeded El Camino Real (18-3-1) at 6 p.m. Earlier in the day, Division II competitors #9 Santee (12-7-4) will take on #6 Garfield (11-6-3) at 1:30 p.m.
At Birmingham High, the Division I championship will see #1 Chavez (20-2-2) compete against #6 Cleveland (17-8-2) at 3:45 p.m. Additionally, in Division III, #12 North Hollywood (11-12-5) will go head-to-head with #3 Gardena (10-5-3) at 1:30 p.m. The day’s matches will commence with Division IV, featuring #8 LA Roosevelt (6-14-1) against #18 Port of LA (10-11-2) at 11:15 a.m.
On the girls’ side at Pasadena City College, #1 Birmingham (14-9-2) will take on #3 Wilmington Banning (16-4-1) at 3:45 p.m. In Division II, #1 South East (15-9-2) will face #19 Bravo (11-4-2) at 11:15 a.m. Previously, at 9 a.m., #4 Marquez (17-7) will contest #6 Verdugo Hills (10-8-9).
At Birmingham High, the Open Division match between #7 Granada Hills (12-5-2) and #1 Cleveland (16-2-3) is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be preceded by the Division IV matchup between #10 Sun Valley Poly (8-6-5) and #12 Monroe (8-7-4) at 9 a.m.
Southern Section Matches on Friday and Saturday
In the Southern Section, Friday will feature boys’ action in Division 6 as Animo Leadership (18-8-5) visits Ontario Christian (22-4-1) at 6 p.m. Girls will battle in Division 6, where Segerstrom (14-2-6) plays at Ocean View (13-6-3) at 5 p.m.
Saturday’s matches will begin at Fred Kelly Stadium, with the Open Division clash between Orange Lutheran (13-3-4) and Mater Dei (16-1-3) at 6 p.m. In Division 1, Fontana (22-5) will take on Santa Monica (20-3-3) at 1 p.m. Meanwhile, in Division 5, Esperanza (9-8-6) is set to compete against Santa Ana Valley (18-2-3) at 10:30 a.m.
At Veterans Stadium, Division 2 will feature Bishop Amat (24-4-3) against Newport Harbor (16-3-2) at 6 p.m., followed by Division 3, where Los Alamitos (14-5-2) will face Calabasas (19-1-4) at 1 p.m.
At Orange Coast College, Rio Hondo Prep (16-5-1) will go up against Orange County Pacifica Christian (16-2-1) in Division 8 at 3 p.m. Various other matches will also be held at host sites, including Division 4 and Division 7 contests.
