Youth Basketball Teams Showcase Skill and Determination
In a display of developing talent, Heritage Christian’s young players made significant strides in their latest matchup, defeating Crossroads 71-56 on Monday. Freshman Ty Lazenby shone brightly, scoring 31 points and sinking eight three-pointers during the game. Sophomore Houston Rolle also contributed significantly, adding 27 points. For Crossroads, Shalen Sheppard managed 17 points.
In another thrilling contest, St. Francis edged out Brentwood 61-56 despite the absence of 7-foot-4 Cherif Millogo. Luke Paulus stepped up, leading the Golden Knights with 24 points.
St. Anthony narrowly defeated San Pedro 69-67, with Trystan Butardo scoring the decisive layup. San Pedro’s Bryce Jackson had a standout performance with 25 points, while teammate AJ Bobich contributed 20.
Oxnard secured a 52-46 victory against North Hollywood, thanks to Mikey Duran-Morales, who led his team with 20 points. Meanwhile, Bishop Alemany triumphed over Mayfair 61-52, with Tyler Vuille’s 21 points being pivotal to the win.
In the Hoophall Classic, Christian Collins of St. John Bosco achieved a remarkable performance, scoring 24 points and grabbing nine rebounds in a 65-56 victory against Columbus, showcasing his talent as an uncommitted five-star recruit.
In other notable results, California overwhelmed Pioneer 80-52, with Leonel Castro scoring 32 points. Chaminade secured a 63-47 win over Eagle Rock, backed by Dylan Moran’s 28 points, while Fairfax defeated Crenshaw 63-45 with Chris Stokes contributing 15 points to the Lions’ success. Crespi comfortably triumphed over Maranatha 77-37, and Damien claimed a 66-55 victory against Palisades, led by Eli Garner’s impressive stats of 19 points, seven assists, and seven rebounds. Newport Beach Pacifica Christian edged San Gabriel Academy 62-60, spearheaded by Michael Noel’s 19 points.

Sage Hill demonstrated their prowess with an 88-58 victory against Bishop Gorman, where Kamdyn Klamberg led with 28 points and Amalia Holguin added 27 points.
Redondo Union also celebrated a significant win, defeating Windward 79-61, driven by Abby Zimmerman’s 20 points. Windward’s Charis Rainey had an exceptional game, scoring 36 points, including 11 of 12 free throws.
Etiwanda topped Francis Parker 71-45, thanks to Arynn Finley’s 21 points and Chasity Rice’s 18 points, reinforcing the team’s strong performance.
