Fátima Bosch Addresses Controversies Surrounding Miss Universe Win
Miss Universe Fátima Bosch is vehemently contesting recent allegations regarding her crowning, which has drawn significant media attention. Since securing the title last month, the 27-year-old Miss Mexico has spoken out about the controversies that have arisen, including accusations of a rigged competition and speculation about her possible resignation from the title.
In an interview with Nightline anchor JuJu Chang, a segment of which aired on ABC’s Good Morning America on December 2, Bosch reflected on the significance of her crowning at the 2025 Miss Universe competition. “That moment felt like a dream come true,” she stated.
However, her victory has been clouded by controversies, notably a dramatic walkout she led on November 4 after clashing with pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil. Despite receiving support from some viewers for her actions, Bosch candidly admitted to feeling frightened. “Yeah, and I was scared at that time,” she said, emphasizing the importance of dignity over silence. “I can’t stay quiet because in every case, your dignity is more important than any price or any dream that you have.”
Bosch’s decision to speak out has not gone unnoticed and has only intensified the scrutiny surrounding her win, with some claiming her outspokenness led to her success. She firmly rebuffs these claims, asserting, “No, I make the same effort that all the pageant [participants] make. And this is a joke. But I feel like I made history, so why not?”
The walkout incident was compounded by the resignation of former judge Omar Harfouch, who alleged that the Miss Universe Organization orchestrated an “impromptu jury” to pre-select finalists, undermining the integrity of the competition. The organization denied his claims, maintaining transparency throughout the event.
In a recent statement, Bosch addressed rumors surrounding possible resignation: “Of course not. I will never step away from this crown. I’m not here for fame or modeling or searching for a husband. I’m here because God put a purpose on my heart. I have a mission and I will do that all the years, to serve others, to help.”
Following her crowning, Nawat Itsaragrisil has publicly apologized for the confrontation, with indications that his role will be minimized in future events. Although pageant officials announced restrictions for Itsaragrisil’s involvement, he has been seen at various Miss Universe functions in the weeks since the event.
Bosch remains focused on using her platform for women’s empowerment and continues to embrace her role amid the unfolding drama surrounding her historic win.
