Timothée Chalamet has been awarded the 2025 Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture Comedy.
The 30-year-old actor turned to kiss his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, when his name was announced, radiating joy as he accepted the honor at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on January 11. In his speech, Chalamet acknowledged the support of his co-stars, parents, and Jenner.
“My dad instilled in me a spirit of gratitude growing up,” Chalamet remarked. “Always be grateful for what you have. It’s allowed me to leave this ceremony in the past empty-handed, my head held high, grateful just to be here. I’d be lying if I didn’t say those moments didn’t make this moment that much sweeter. For my parents, for my partner, I love you. Thank you so much.”

Jenner was seen beaming in the audience following Chalamet’s heartfelt acknowledgment.
In addition to his heartfelt thanks to his loved ones, Chalamet recognized the contributions of those involved in the film.

“Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart,” Chalamet stated. “I’m in a category with many greats. This category is stacked. I look up to all of you. Thank you. To [director] Josh Safdie, thank you for this role, for believing in me, and for your vision. To A24, Ronnie Bronstein, who co-wrote the script with Josh, and the amazing cast of this film.”
“If you told me when I was 19 that I’d be thanking Mr. Wonderful from Shark Tank, I would have been stunned,” Chalamet quipped, referencing his acknowledgment of Kevin O’Leary.
He concluded, “I would have been stunned, but I’ve been very grateful.”
Chalamet triumphed over notable nominees including George Clooney for Jay Kelly, Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another, Ethan Hawke for Blue Moon, Lee Byung-hun for No Other Choice, and Jesse Plemons for Bugonia.
Chalamet has previously received accolades including a Critics Choice Award and a nomination at the upcoming Actor Awards for his performance in Marty Supreme, marking a year of significant achievements since his role as Bob Dylan in 2024’s A Complete Unknown. The film, directed by Josh Safdie, follows a pioneering ping pong player, with Chalamet portraying Mary Mauser.
To prepare for his role, the two-time Oscar nominee trained in table tennis for years. “In spirit, this is the most who I was that I’ve had to play a role,” Chalamet noted. “This is who I was before I had a career.”

George Clooney, now boasting 13 Golden Globe nominations for his work in film and television, stars in Jay Kelly, a comedic portrayal of a Hollywood star facing an existential crisis.
In a November interview, Clooney shared insights on a challenging scene from the film, saying, “You have to really fortify yourself for seeing 40 years of aging on screen. It’s not so easy with a bad mullet.”

Leonardo DiCaprio leads his 15th Golden Globe-nominated performance in One Battle After Another, portraying a character entrenched in political complexities.
DiCaprio commented on the film’s relevance, stating, “It really tapped into the state of the world right now, the extremism that we all feel, from both sides.” He praised the script for its profound exploration of human flaws.

Ethan Hawke received his third nomination for Blue Moon, portraying the late Broadway lyricist Lorenz Hart. The film follows Hart on a significant night in his career.
“Every now and then, you bump up against a part that presses you to the wall of your ability,” Hawke remarked, expressing the challenging nature of the role.

Lee Byung-hun has starred in various successful projects, including Squid Game. His latest performance in No Other Choice has garnered critical acclaim and a Golden Globe nomination, marking a notable feat for South Korean cinema.
In the film, Lee portrays Yoo Man-su, a family man navigating an unexpected job loss. “Korean storytellers create narratives that resonate globally,” he noted.
