Fatal Chain Reaction Crash on 101 Freeway Claims One Life
A chain reaction crash on the 101 Freeway in Encino has resulted in the death of one individual, as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, shortly after 1:48 a.m.
According to CHP, the sequence of events began with a vehicle stalled in the first lane near White Oak Avenue. Eyewitness video captured the moment when a second car collided with the stalled vehicle at a high speed. Shortly thereafter, two individuals were seen on the freeway assessing the aftermath of the crash when a third vehicle struck the other cars and hit one of the people present.
The CHP confirmed that the victim succumbed to injuries at the scene. However, authorities did not release any identifying details about the deceased, including their name, gender, or age. The status of any other potential injuries resulting from the collisions remains unclear.
Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the initial vehicle’s stall, which set off the tragic series of events.
