FBI Joins Efforts to Find Rancho Cucamonga Man Missing in Possible Crypto-Related Kidnapping
FBI Investigates Disappearance of Rancho Cucamonga Man
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – Federal authorities and San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies are actively pursuing leads in the case of Nai Ping Hou, a 74-year-old man who vanished under suspicious circumstances. Investigators suspect that his disappearance may be tied to identity theft and financial fraud.
Hou was last seen on March 16, 2025, in Rancho Cucamonga. Following his disappearance, his home was discovered devoid of furniture, and his vehicles were missing. Additionally, bank accounts linked to Hou have been drained of over $1 million.
His son, Wen Hou, a prominent cryptocurrency investor, became concerned when he received unusual text messages from his father’s phone, suggesting that an impostor may have been using the device to communicate with family members while accessing Hou’s assets. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is treating this incident as a potential kidnapping.
Despite ongoing investigations, the current whereabouts of Nai Ping Hou remain unknown, and law enforcement has yet to identify the individuals responsible for the fraudulent transactions. While foul play is suspected, it is unclear whether the perpetrator was a known associate or an opportunistic stranger targeting the family’s wealth.
Family members are offering a reward of $250,000 for information that leads to Hou’s safe return or the arrest of those involved in his disappearance. Nai Ping Hou is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds, with black and gray hair and black eyes. He has a birthmark on his upper left shoulder and has connections to Riverside County.
Authorities encourage anyone with relevant information to contact their local FBI office or the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
