A new chapter in the royal romance saga is in the making as filming for the eagerly awaited sequel, Red, White & Royal Wedding, has officially commenced. This follow-up to the 2023 hit rom-com Red, White & Royal Blue was confirmed through a recent behind-the-scenes video.
Released on January 19 via the movie’s Instagram account and the distributors Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video, the video features stars Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine welcoming fans back with the enthusiastic caption, “we’re SO beyond back.”
“Welcome back,” Galitzine says in the video, reprising his role as the fictional Prince Henry of England. Perez, who returns as Alex Claremont-Diaz, adds, “Oh, I did want to say that we are here for Bea’s wedding.” This wedding refers to Princess Beatrice, portrayed by Ellie Bamber, who is the younger sister of Prince Henry and the apparent bride in the sequel.
Galitzine humorously clarifies, “Yeah, we just wanted to clarify, you know? Don’t get confused,” suggesting that the wedding in question does not involve his character and Alex walking down the aisle anytime soon.
The sequel is co-written by Casey McQuiston, who authored the 2019 novel that inspired the original film, alongside Gemma Burgess and Matthew López, the writer-director of the first installment.
Directed by Jamie Babbit, known for her work on the 1999 queer rom-com But I’m a Cheerleader, the new film’s plot details remain closely guarded, according to an announcement from Amazon.

“I’m thrilled to be back in the queer love universe of Red, White & Royal Wedding,” Babbit stated. “We all need this kind of optimism, fantasy, and gay joy.”
López expressed excitement about continuing the story of Alex and Henry, saying, “It’s been a blast to dream up the next chapter of their story as a producer and co-writer, and I’m delighted to be passing the directing baton to Jamie, whose vision and sense of humor will be a perfect match for our film.”

Fans have drawn comparisons between the upcoming film and Heated Rivalry, another recent release that explores a similar theme of romance among two male characters transitioning from rivalry to love.
With anticipation building, Red, White & Royal Wedding promises to deliver more of the engaging storytelling that fans have come to love.
