Dodger Fan Returns to Paper Tickets After Frustration with Digital Policy
Dodgers Reconsider Ticket Policy for Longtime Fan Following Viral Story
The Los Angeles Dodgers have reversed their decision regarding season tickets for a devoted fan after his story gained widespread attention on social media.
Errol Segal, an 81-year-old loyal supporter, received a letter from the team earlier this month informing him that they would not print his season tickets, a practice he had enjoyed for 50 years. NBC Los Angeles first reported on this situation, highlighting Segal’s disappointment over the team’s decision to go digital.
Segal, who has used a flip phone for decades and is unfamiliar with computers, expressed his discontent, stating he felt “depressed” by the refusal of his request for paper tickets. On April 2, after receiving the notice, he visited Dodger Stadium and purchased physical tickets for that evening’s game, despite the team’s initial offer to buy back the tickets he already owned.
“50 years I’ve had these tickets,” Segal told NBC Los Angeles. “They threw me under the bus.” His heartfelt connection to the game and its traditions resonated with many online, leading to a significant outpouring of support.
Following the surge of attention, the Dodgers have agreed to print season tickets for Segal, rekindling his joy for attending games. “It makes me so happy when I hand them the ticket and the smile on their face,” he remarked. “There’s nothing like an original paper ticket.”
Looking ahead, Segal is eager to continue supporting his team, emphasizing his unwavering dedication: “I’m with them whether they win or lose. I love everything about the Dodgers.”
