Disney+ Partners with Stephen Graham, Co-Creator of ‘Adolescence,’ for New Indie Project
Stephen Graham, co-creator of Adolescence, has announced a new collaboration with Disney+. Along with his partner, Hannah Walters, their company, Matriarch Productions, has secured a two-year first-look deal in the UK with the streaming service.
The agreement aims to produce original scripted and unscripted series, with a focus on delivering compelling British stories to global audiences, according to statements from Disney+.
Matriarch Productions is currently behind the boxing drama A Thousand Blows, which features both Graham and Walters and recently launched its second season. The duo has experienced significant success, particularly with Netflix’s Adolescence, which garnered multiple awards at the Golden Globes.
Angela Jain, Head of Content for Disney+ EMEA, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: “Stephen and Hannah have proven they know how to tell bold, impactful stories, and our vision also aligns with them around providing a platform for underrepresented voices in the UK. Distinctive, local stories that entertain and resonate with audiences are what Disney+ are committed to championing, making Matriarch the perfect partners as we look to evolve our production slate in the UK. This is a dream, and we’re thrilled to continue working with them.”
