Demi Lovato’s Husband Jutes Shares His Joy About Having John Rzeznik Perform at Their Wedding

Demi Lovato’s husband, Jordan “Jutes” Lutes, recently reflected on a remarkable moment from the couple’s wedding in California. During an interview on the Zach Sang Show, Lutes shared his excitement over having John Rzeznik, the frontman of the Goo Goo Dolls, perform at their May 25 nuptials.
In a moment of nostalgia, Jutes expressed, “That’s like one of the coolest things. In the moment, me and Demi were looking at each other, and I was just like, ‘What’s going on right now?!’ This is the most iconic song ever. He’s right there, and it’s for us!” Rzeznik performed “Iris,” a hit from the band’s 1998 album, for the couple’s first dance.
He added, “Icon. Such a legend for doing that. Forever grateful.” Rzeznik, who wrote “Iris” for the movie City of Angels, showcased his enduring vocal prowess during the performance, which notably had everyone singing along. “I was like, ‘Dude, this is like a sold-out concert level,” Jutes recalled. “He really killed it. It was unreal. All my friends still hit me to this day, and they’re like, ‘I was just driving to work thinking about ‘Iris.’ It’s one of those things where I’m like, ‘I still can’t believe that actually happened.’”

Lovato, 33, described having Rzeznik sing live as “surreal.” She noted, “This was a pinch-us moment. It’s our favorite song and has so much meaning to both of us.” The couple’s emotional connection to the song added depth to the occasion.
After the event, the Goo Goo Dolls shared a black-and-white photo on Instagram featuring the newlyweds dancing. In their post, they expressed, “It was an absolute pleasure attending the wedding of @ddlovato & @jutesmusic and performing ‘Iris’ during their first dance together as husband & wife.” Lovato responded in the comments, calling the moment “Unreal!!!! Forever grateful and still blown away!!! THANK YOU.” Jutes remarked that it had become a “core memory,” emphasizing Rzeznik’s exceptional performance.

This special moment had been a long-held dream for Lovato. Following their December 2023 engagement, she had revealed her desire to have Rzeznik perform “Iris” at her wedding, which she referred to as “incredible.” Additionally, the wedding festivities featured another notable highlight, as Lovato mentioned that her friend Paris Hilton took over the DJ booth during a late-night afterparty, energizing the crowd with her skills.
Reflecting on the celebration, Lovato stated, “Paris literally shook the dance floor with her DJ skills. I mean the entire floor moved with her beats.”
