12 Documentaries Highlighted at Contenders Film: Documentary
A diverse array of documentary films was showcased at this year’s Contenders Film: Documentary event, featuring 12 titles that examine a variety of compelling subjects. Among the notable films is Diane Warren: Relentless, which offers an in-depth look at the life of acclaimed songwriter Diane Warren. The lineup also includes Eugene Jarecki’s The Six Billion Dollar Man, focusing on Julian Assange, and Dan Farah’s The Age of Disclosure, which unveils groundbreaking revelations about Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs).
Other standout features include Becoming Led Zeppelin, directed by writers Bernard MacMahon and Allison McGourty, and The Tale of Silyan, which recently claimed the top prize at the IDA Awards. Andrew Abrahams contributed two films, Complicated and Dog Warriors, alongside Ai Weiwei’s Turandot and Viva Verdi!, both touching on the world of opera. Additionally, The Hemingway portrays co-director Patrick Sean O’Brien’s journey with ALS, while Maciej J Drygas’ film Trains offers a silent yet poignant exploration of history through the lens of locomotives. Another film, Trade Secret, directed by Abraham Joffe, delves into the market for polar bear furs.
This year’s event featured prominent distributors and production companies, including Charlotte Street Films, Watermelon Pictures, EPF Media & Drygas Film Production, Incipit Film/La Monte Productions, and many others.
Contenders Film: Documentary followed a successful weekend that included the Contenders Film: International event on December 6-7.
