David Ellison, CEO of Paramount, Promises a 45-Day Theatrical Window at CinemaCon: Excitement Grows for Paramount’s Future
Paramount CEO Announces New Commitment at CinemaCon
Las Vegas, NV — Paramount CEO David Ellison made a surprise appearance at CinemaCon, delivering encouraging news to exhibitors: the studio will adopt a 45-day theatrical window, effective immediately, followed by a 90-day wait before transitioning to SVOD. His announcement was met with enthusiastic applause from attendees.
Ellison took the stage after a dynamic opening reel directed by Jon M. Chu and narrated by Tom Cruise. He expressed his desire to assure exhibitors face-to-face, pledging a minimum of 30 films annually, contingent upon the successful completion of Paramount’s merger with Warner Bros. “You can count on our complete commitment. And we’ll show you we mean it,” he affirmed.
The atmosphere at Caesars Palace has buzzed with speculation about Ellison’s appearance amidst ongoing discussions about the merger with Warner Bros. Discovery, which has faced criticism from a coalition of guilds and creatives who fear it may lead to fewer films and job losses.
Amid the noise surrounding the merger, Ellison presented a bright outlook for Paramount. “The Paramount lot is alive again, and we couldn’t be more excited,” he stated. With studio co-heads Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein, Ellison highlighted an increase in production activity, including new first-look deals, coinciding with a robust resurgence in box office performance. The promotional video concluded with Cruise showcased atop the water features on the Paramount lot.
Goldberg followed Ellison’s remarks, emphasizing the studio’s creative partnerships. “The driving force behind the new Paramount comes down to this: our creative community,” she said. She noted that filmmakers like The Duffer Brothers, James Mangold, Issa Rae, and Dan Trachtenberg are among those collaborating with the studio.
“From day one, we’ve been hard at work doing our part, which already includes bringing 15 theatrical films in 2026—nearly double the prior year. Year over year, we’re scaling to provide audiences with films for every season, every mood, and every taste,” she added.
