Charley Crockett Cancels Canadian Tour After Entry Denial Linked to Old Drug Conviction

Charley Crockett has canceled his Canadian tour dates following an inability to enter the country due to a 10-year-old drug possession charge, the country artist announced on Monday, February 23, via Instagram.
In a post, Crockett shared a photo of a report from Canada’s immigration, refugees, and citizenship department, which barred him from crossing the border. The restriction stems from a March 2016 conviction for carrying over five pounds of marijuana with intent to sell in Virginia. “Everybody’s got a past,” he wrote. “Mine’s still haunting me.”
In his explanation, Crockett detailed attempts to cross the Canadian border twice within a 24-hour period, revealing that he was denied entry at both Vancouver and Kelowna. “I’ve been advised that it would jeopardize my freedom to try and enter again,” he said, confirming the need to cancel all upcoming performances in Canada. “I apologize to everyone affected. I know I let y’all down.”
Fans who purchased tickets can expect full refunds, though Crockett noted that this gesture does not compensate for their time and hard-earned money. “Canada’s such a beautiful country full of some of the best fans in the world, and I’ve had the time of my life playing shows for y’all,” he added. “I ain’t one to quit and I aim to be back one of these days real soon.”
Billboard has reached out to Canada’s Border Services Agency for further comment.
Crockett was set to launch his Canadian tour on Saturday, February 21, with a performance at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver, which Live Nation British Columbia had announced would be postponed “due to unforeseen circumstances” just hours prior. He had additional shows scheduled in Alberta, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Quebec.
This news comes shortly after Crockett revealed that his new album, Age of the Ram, will be released on April 3. This marks the third installment of his “Sagebrush Trilogy,” following the releases of Lonesome Drifter and Dollar a Day in 2025.
