Camelot Films from Malta Introduces New Sales Division Before EFM and Shares Plans for ‘The Awakening 2’
EXCLUSIVE: Independent production company Camelot Films, known for its work on Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher, is set to launch a new sales division along with its own financing arm, marking a significant expansion of its production services based in Malta.
The company’s upcoming slate features a diverse array of projects, including the TV series Psychedelic Adventures, the action-thriller film X-Killers, the reality series Battle of the Beasts, and the documentary Built for the Unknown, which follows extreme athlete and adventurer Ash Dykes.
Psychedelic Adventures highlights the journey of a spiritual couple exploring California, where they seek meaning and self-discovery through plant medicines. The eight-part series has recently completed post-production.
In Battle of the Beasts, financed by Camelot, twelve elite athletes take on a series of intense physical and mental challenges. The show features notable hosts, including Eddie ‘The Beast’ Hall, reality star Tommy Fury, actor Matt Hookings, and four-time World’s Strongest Man Brian Shaw. The series aims to include at least one female athlete competing alongside male counterparts.
Camelot has also secured distribution deals for the reality series House of Streams with Netflix in the UK and the documentary Psychopath Life Coach, which will be available on both Netflix and Tubi in the U.S.
The sales operations will be managed by an in-house team consisting of producer Luke Croft-Faulkner, sales associate Elias Segal, Pinewood Studios producer Tim Kent, and Camelot CEO Matt Hookings. This team will participate in this week’s European Film Market in Berlin.
Upcoming projects from Camelot include the feature film The Awakening, featuring Peter Stormare, Alice Eve, Justin Tinto, and Kevin Spacey. Sales are being handled by Pia Patatian from Noora Films.
Camelot has also planned for Roel Reiné (Halo) to direct the sequel, The Awakening 2, which will star Justin Tinto and is set to begin filming in Malta this fall. There is potential for returning cast members, including Stormare and Spacey, although deals have not yet been finalized. Noora Films will oversee sales for the sequel as well.
CEO Matt Hookings stated, “Since 2019, we have built a track record of generating over $150M of production expenditures into Malta. By bringing development, financing, production, and sales capabilities in-house, we’re redefining what the future of independent filmmaking can look like.”
Adrian Goodisman, Chairman of Camelot, remarked, “This announcement represents a significant milestone for Camelot and builds on our 2023 decision to move our corporate headquarters to Malta. We continue to position ourselves as a strategic partner of choice for production companies and studios seeking to maximize the full commercial, operational, and creative advantages of filming in Malta.”
Camelot Films is recognized for its boxing film Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher, which was distributed through Amazon.
