California Sees $2.8 Million Powerball Ticket Sale
No Winner for $1.5 Billion Powerball Jackpot
No ticket holders emerged victorious in Saturday’s Powerball drawing for the staggering $1.5 billion jackpot, which captured nationwide attention.
A $2.8 million Powerball ticket, however, was sold at a 7-Eleven in Chino Hills, California, adding some excitement amid the jackpot’s absence of winners. California Lottery officials reported that this winning ticket is valued at $2,811,275, sold just days before the recent drawing.
The winning numbers for the December 20 draw were 4, 25, 31, 52, 59 with a Powerball of 19. Dreaming of large payouts, many players were hopeful as the lottery remained a significant topic of conversation, particularly given the elusive jackpot.
As the jackpot resets to $20 million, the next drawing is scheduled for Saturday, December 27, at 8 p.m. PT. This reset follows a drawing that was held for the previous jackpot of $1.7 billion, won by a ticket sold in Arkansas.
Lottery participants are often left to consider the financial implications of their potential winnings, especially regarding taxes. The final amount a winner receives can vary significantly based on state tax rates, alongside the choice between a lump-sum payment or an annuity option. In California, those opting for an annuity receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments.
As excitement grows for the next drawing, the $20 million jackpot offers a new opportunity for players to dream about their possibilities.
