LOS ANGELES – A police standoff is in progress in Pacoima after an alleged burglar barricaded himself inside a home early Thursday morning. The incident has prompted a significant response from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
The situation began around 2:40 a.m. when officers arrived at the 13200 block of Pinney Street following reports of a burglary. Police have identified the suspect as a man in his 30s, accused of assaulting a woman on the same street and breaking into a nearby residence he is believed to be linked to.
Authorities confirmed that a woman inside the home managed to escape unharmed before police responded to the scene. Due to the suspect’s refusal to exit the residence, a SWAT team was deployed to control the situation. Surrounding homes have been evacuated as a precautionary measure.
As of now, it remains unclear whether the suspect is armed, and his identity has not been disclosed. Additionally, there is no information about any potential connection between the suspect and the woman who fled the scene.
The SWAT team is actively working to engage in surrender negotiations with the suspect, and evacuations will remain in effect until he is taken into custody.
