Britney Spears’ Representative Responds to Claims of Erratic Behavior with a Knife in a Restaurant
Pop star Britney Spears has denied recent reports alleging concerning behavior at a restaurant, labeling the claims as “ridiculous” and part of a broader “attack” on her character.
In a statement provided to Billboard on Thursday (May 14), Spears’ spokesperson refuted the allegations, asserting that she was simply enjoying “a quiet dinner with her assistant and bodyguard.” The spokesperson added, “She was telling the story about how her dog was barking at the neighbors. At no point did she put anyone in danger with a knife.”
According to her representative, “She was cutting her hamburger in half. This constant attack on everything that she does is reminiscent of 20 years ago when the media tried to depict Britney as a bad person. This is ridiculous and it needs to stop now.”
This response follows a post on X from May 13, where a diner claimed that they were seated near Spears and alleged that “one diner feared for her life” due to Spears’ behavior. The user described the experience as “an INSANE dining experience,” adding, “This is not a joke…”
The following day, TMZ reported that Spears had allegedly begun “screaming” and “barking” during her meal at Blue Dog Tavern in Sherman Oaks, California. One witness claimed she had walked past their table with a knife in hand.
Spears is currently navigating challenges following her arrest on suspicion of DUI in Ventura County, California, in March. Shortly afterward, she entered a treatment facility. In the weeks preceding the reports about her restaurant visit, she accepted a plea deal resulting in a year of probation for a misdemeanor charge termed “wet reckless,” a lesser offense compared to a DUI.
At the time, her attorney, Michael Goldstein, stated that Spears’ guilty plea indicated she “has accepted responsibility for her conduct.”
Goldstein further emphasized, “She has taken significant steps to implement positive change, which is clearly reflected in the Ventura County District Attorney’s decision to reduce the charge in this case and dismiss the DUI. Britney appreciates this discretion and is also grateful for the outpouring of support she has received.”
