An Avicii wax figure was unveiled on May 14 at the Las Vegas location of Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. The figure captures the late producer in a moment many fans will recognize: behind the decks, wearing a flannel shirt and backward baseball cap, with his right hand raised and a bright smile.
This wax figure follows an earlier debut at the New York Madame Tussauds in 2019. Notably, the Las Vegas figure sports a different flannel design, featuring blue, red, and black instead of the black-and-white pattern of the New York version. A spokesperson for Madame Tussauds has not yet commented on whether the two figures are identical.
The Las Vegas unveiling comes just ahead of the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) Las Vegas, which is set to attract over 200,000 dance music enthusiasts for the three-day festival and various surrounding events on the Strip.
“Avicii truly embodies everything that the Las Vegas nightlife scene is known for,” said Gabriel Hewitt, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Las Vegas, in a press release. “His new figure is a perfect fit for our location, and we can’t wait for guests to come see it.” The release emphasized that the figure allows visitors to relive Avicii’s memorable performances while honoring his legacy.
The original figure in New York was created in collaboration with the parents of the late artist. This April marked the eighth anniversary of Avicii’s tragic death by suicide.
