Brett Ratner Reflects on His Unexpected Connection to Epstein Files in ‘Melania’ Film
Brett Ratner, director of the Amazon MGM Studios documentary Melania, has denied any ties to Jeffrey Epstein, following his appearance in recently released Department of Justice documents concerning the late sex offender.
The DOJ files, which contain millions of documents, included a photo of Ratner with his arm around an unidentified woman beside Epstein. In response, Ratner informed Fox News Digital that the woman in the photo was his fiancée at the time.
“About 20 years ago, I had a girlfriend. I was in love with her. We were engaged. She was my fiancée. We went to an event, and we were sitting on the couch, and the photo was taken at that event,” Ratner explained. “I didn’t have a personal relationship with him [Epstein]. I didn’t know him.”

Ratner described the situation as “crazy” and “horrible,” emphasizing that the public’s speculation does not imply he was aware of Epstein’s illicit activities. Epstein was convicted of sex crimes, including soliciting prostitution from a minor, in 2008.
Melania chronicles the 20 days leading up to Donald Trump’s second-term inauguration, marking Ratner’s return to filmmaking after he faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct in 2017, which he has denied.
The documentary opened to a box office gross of $7.1 million, the highest for a feature documentary in a decade, although this fell short of covering its estimated production and marketing costs of $75 million.
