Ariana Guerra Joins the Cast of MGM+ Prequel Series ‘Bosch: Start of Watch’
Ariana Guerra, known for her roles in Madres and Helstrom, has joined the cast of the MGM+ series Bosch: Start of Watch. This prequel expands the Bosch Universe and features previously announced leads Cameron Monaghan and Omari Hardwick.
Set in 1991 Los Angeles, Bosch: Start of Watch follows 26-year-old Harry Bosch, portrayed by Monaghan, during his formative days as a rookie cop. The narrative unfolds in a city fraught with racial tension, gang violence, and a fractured LAPD. As Bosch navigates routine calls amidst growing unrest, he becomes embroiled in a high-profile heist that exposes a web of criminal corruption, challenging his allegiance to the badge. This storyline reflects Bosch’s moral code: "Everybody counts or nobody counts."
The series derives its narrative from the author Michael Connelly’s existing Bosch book series, though it does not have a direct source material for the prequel. Connelly describes the creation as “uncharted character territory,” combining various elements from Bosch’s earlier years explored in other novels.
In addition to Hardwick, who plays Eli Bridges—Bosch’s training officer—Guerra is set to portray Rosa. A rookie LAPD officer and native of Los Angeles, Rosa brings a unique combination of maturity and street smarts to her role. Raised in the community she patrolled, Rosa embodies a new generation of officers navigating a post-Rodney King landscape. Beneath her confident exterior lies a struggle with insecurities stemming from a young pregnancy and the challenges of establishing a stable life for her child. Complications arise as a budding romance with Bosch places her credibility at risk, compelling Rosa to demonstrate her commitment and capability.
Produced by Fabel Entertainment, the series is co-created and executive produced by Tom Bernardo and Brian Anthony, with Bernardo serving as showrunner. Connelly will also join the executive production team alongside Henrik Bastin, Jamie Boscardin Martin, and Jasmine Russ. Theresa Snider serves as co-executive producer for Hieronymus Pictures, while Seth Yanklewitz is the casting director.
Guerra will also appear in Nemesis, a new drama by Courtney Kemp for Netflix, which will debut later this year. Previously, she was a series regular on CSI: Vegas, Promised Land, and Marvel’s Helstrom. She gained recognition for her lead role in the Amazon film Madres and was nominated for an Imagen Award for her performance as Best Actress.
