Andie MacDowell and Dyllón Burnside Join Max Talisman in New Indie Comedy Series ‘The Right Side’
Max Talisman and Lynne Kamm Set to Begin Production on ‘The Right Side’
Max Talisman and Lynne Kamm are preparing for a spring shoot in New York City for their new independently produced comedy series, The Right Side. The series will feature Golden Globe winner Andie MacDowell, alongside Dyllón Burnside and Talisman himself.
Talisman and Kamm will serve as co-showrunners, executive producers, and writers, with Buzz Koenig producing for Atlantic Pictures. Katharina Eggmann is involved in additional casting. This collaboration marks a reunion for Talisman and Koenig, who previously worked together on the indie comedy Things Like This, in which Talisman stars opposite James Leon and Joey Pollari.
The Right Side explores themes of politics and personal relationships, describing a narrative where family members become collateral damage in the political arena. The story kicks off following an on-air announcement that transforms a terminal illness into a national spectacle. The plot unfolds as America’s most beloved conservative television couple faces the reality of their liberal, podcast-famous children returning home for a celebrated network tribute, despite these children hosting a show that actively critiques their parents’ beliefs.
In the series, MacDowell plays Ruthie, a right-wing news celebrity and morning show co-host whose public marital image—and role as the mother of twins—is strained when the family is thrust into the media spotlight. Specific details regarding Burnside’s and Talisman’s roles have yet to be revealed.
Talisman, known for his work in Super Dark Times, Orange Is the New Black, and Search Party, is represented by Luber Roklin and Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks.
Kamm has earned acclaim as an award-winning writer and executive producer, having penned the inaugural season of CBC’s Plan B, which garnered her a 2024 Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Drama. Her extensive television credits include the Emmy-winning series 19-2, Transplant, Ransom, and the cult comedy Letterkenny. As a Nicholl Fellow and alumnus of prestigious programs such as the Canadian Film Centre and Sundance Lab, Kamm’s writing has received numerous awards, including a WGA nomination and several Canadian Screen Awards. She is represented by Anonymous Content and Luber Roklin Entertainment.
MacDowell, celebrated for classics such as Groundhog Day, Four Weddings and a Funeral, and Sex, Lies, and Videotape, recently starred in the Hallmark series The Way Home, as well as in films like Goodrich alongside Michael Keaton and Mila Kunis. She is represented by Gersh and RMS Productions.
Burnside, recognized for his leading role in FX’s groundbreaking drama Pose, has also appeared in Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and American Horror Stories. He is represented by CAA, Artists First, and Ryan Levine.
