Alt-Super Bowl Halftime Show: Here’s Who’s Performing at Turning Point USA’s Event
Turning Point USA Unveils Lineup for ‘The All-American Halftime Show’
Turning Point USA (TPUSA) has announced the performers for its upcoming event, “The All-American Halftime Show,” following the controversial selection of Bad Bunny as the headliner for the Super Bowl Halftime Show. This announcement was made Tuesday by the organization founded by the late Charlie Kirk.
The lineup features prominent artists including Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Gabby Barrett, and Lee Brice. The event is being promoted on the TPUSA website as a celebration of “faith, family & freedom.”
Viewers will have the opportunity to experience the performances live on various conservative news platforms, including Daily Wire+, Real America’s Voice, Trinity Broadcasting Network, and Sinclair Media’s The National News Desk. The show is also set to stream on TPUSA’s social media channels.
The announcement of the TPUSA event comes in the wake of backlash against the NFL’s choice of Bad Bunny as its halftime performer. Critics from right-wing circles have voiced their dissent, citing Bad Bunny’s past criticism of the Trump administration and his choice to perform almost exclusively in Spanish.
Right-wing commentator Tomi Lahren commented that Bad Bunny is “not an American artist,” despite his being from Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory. House Speaker Mike Johnson referred to the selection as a “terrible decision,” emphasizing, “In my view, you would have Lee Greenwood or role models doing that, not somebody like this.”
Details regarding the venue and overall format of the TPUSA event remain limited since its original announcement in October, with relevant information only surfacing on media networks in the past week.
Bad Bunny is a globally recognized music star, holding 16 Grammy nominations and six wins. Recently, he won Album of the Year for Debí Tirar Más Fotos, marking a historic moment as the first Spanish-language album to receive this accolade. His single, “EoO,” also won Best Global Music Performance, further solidifying his influence in the music industry.
During a recent Grammy acceptance speech, Bad Bunny received a standing ovation after declaring, “Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say, ‘ICE out!’” He emphasized the importance of love over hate, stating, “We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens, we are humans, and we are Americans.”
The Super Bowl, which will feature a matchup between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks, is scheduled to air Sunday on NBC.
