All American Announces Premiere Date for Its Final Season This Summer
All American is set to return for its final season this summer, as confirmed by The CW.
On Thursday, the network announced that Season 8 will premiere with a two-hour episode on July 13 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Leading up to this premiere, an hour-long special titled All American: The Final Season Special is scheduled for June 22, offering a glimpse into the series’ conclusion.
The special will explore the journeys of the characters who have resonated with viewers both on and off the field. The network described the tribute as a retrospective of the show’s most unforgettable moments and relationships, honoring its legacy in the realm of modern sports drama.
Executive producer and showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll shared her reflections on the series, stating, “How do you say goodbye to family? Because that is what these characters, these actors, this All American crew and staff are after eight beautiful, hard-fought seasons together. Family. This was the question on repeat for all of us as we crafted this final season with long hours, lots of love, and even more tears. And what we realized was that just like when your kids grow up and finally leave home, this wasn’t goodbye… It was a tear-filled I’ll see you soon.” She expressed gratitude to fans, stating, “We hope you enjoy this final season as much as we enjoyed making it. Thanks for taking this ride with us.”
The upcoming season will follow characters Jordan, Layla, Coop, Cassius, KJ, Khalil, Amina, and Preach as they pursue their individual aspirations, which test their friendships and family bonds in the wake of Season 7’s events. Season 8 will focus on the core themes of football, family, and friendship, picking up six months after last season’s cliffhanger. The narrative will unfold over the course of one week, challenging characters to consider whether their past experiences have prepared them for the future, ultimately intertwining old and new relationships.
The series features a talented cast, including Michael Evans Behling, Greta Onieogou, Bre-Z, Osy Ikhile, Alexis Chikaeze, Nathaniel Logan McIntyre, Antonio J. Bell, Kareem Grimes, and Lauryn Hardy.
All American is produced by Warner Bros. Television and CBS Studios, in collaboration with Berlanti Productions. The executive production team includes Nkechi Okoro Carroll (“Found,” “The Resident”), Greg Berlanti (“You,” “Brilliant Minds,” “The Flash”), Jameal Turner (“Rosewood”), Sarah Schechter (“The Flight Attendant,” “Riverdale,” “You”), and David Strauss (“One Tree Hill”).
