Albrecht Schuch, Douglas Hodge, Gwilym Lee, and Vinette Robinson Join Cast of The Nightingale
In an exciting casting update, Albrecht Schuch, Douglas Hodge, Gwilym Lee, and Vinette Robinson are set to join Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning in TriStar Pictures’ upcoming film The Nightingale. This marks a significant moment as it will be the first time the Fanning sisters star together on screen. The film is based on Kristin Hannah’s bestselling novel and will also feature Mark Rylance, Shira Haas, and emerging talent Edmund Donovan.
Directed by Michael Morris, the screenplay is penned by Dana Stevens. The film is produced by Elizabeth Cantillon of The Cantillon Company, Dakota and Elle Fanning with Brittany Kahan Ward for Lewellen Pictures, along with Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter from Hello Sunshine. The theatrical release of The Nightingale is scheduled for February 12, 2027.
The narrative of The Nightingale follows the harrowing journey of two sisters in World War II who take perilous paths to seek survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied France.

Kristin Hannah’s The Nightingale has achieved remarkable success, selling over 11 million copies worldwide and being translated into 45 languages. The novel debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list in 2015 and has since spent a staggering 165 weeks on the list across various formats. It also dominated NPR’s fiction chart for 45 weeks and was featured as a Reese’s Book Club Pick in March 2023. A 10th anniversary edition published in March 2025 rose to No. 2 on the New York Times hardcover list, with one million copies sold already this year.
Albrecht Schuch is a German actor known for his performance in Edward Berger’s All Quiet on the Western Front, for which he received a BAFTA nomination. He has also appeared in acclaimed German films System Crasher and Peacock. Schuch is represented by UTA, B-Side Management, and Agentur Lambsdorff.
Douglas Hodge’s filmography includes Todd Phillips’ Joker, We Live in Time, and his most recent project, Pillion. He is repped by Innovative Artists and United Agents.
Gwilym Lee is recognized for roles in Bohemian Rhapsody and the critically acclaimed series The Great, where he co-starred with Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult. He is represented by B-Side Management and Gersh.
Vinette Robinson earned a British Independent Film Award for her role in Boiling Point and has recently starred in Othello at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in London. She is represented by Curtis Brown Group.
