Ugo Bienvenu, Director of Oscar-Nominated ‘Arco’, Joins CAA Team
Ugo Bienvenu Signs with CAA Following Oscar Nomination for Arco
Ugo Bienvenu, director of the Oscar-nominated film Arco, has signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA). The film garnered a nomination for Best Animated Feature Film, showcasing Bienvenu’s talents as both director and co-writer.
Arco, set in the year 2075, follows a young girl who helps a time-traveling boy return to his own time and home. The English voice cast features well-known actors, including Natalie Portman, Mark Ruffalo, Will Ferrell, and America Ferrera. Neon is set to release the film domestically this week.
In addition to his work on Arco, Bienvenu co-founded the production company Remembers, where he has produced various films and series for Canal+. He has also created music videos for prominent artists like The Weeknd and directed advertising campaigns for luxury brands such as Hermès, Chanel, Tiffany, and Louis Vuitton. His credits also include co-productions of feature films with Bertrand Bonello and Félix de Givry.
Beyond filmmaking, Bienvenu has published works by numerous contemporary artists and played a significant role in reviving Métal Hurlant.
Bienvenu’s diverse background includes time spent in Guatemala, Chad, and Mexico before moving to France at age 15. He studied at esteemed institutions, including École Estienne, Gobelins, CalArts, Les Arts Décoratifs de Paris, and Animation Sans Frontières. Since 2019, he has worked as an illustrator and designer for Hermès, and his graphic novel Préférence Système won the Angoulême Critics’ Prize.
