A ‘Price Is Right’ Contestant Sets a New Record with an Amazing Win in a Pricing Game
This Mother’s Day, Vanesa from Vermont made history on CBS’s long-running game show, The Price Is Right, by breaking the record for the largest prize ever awarded in a single pricing game. During Friday’s special episode, Vanesa triumphed in the game “The Lion’s Share,” racking up over $240,000, surpassing the previous record of $210,000 set a decade ago during the “Cliffhangers” game.
As host Drew Carey looked on, Vanesa, a retired military veteran, confidently played the new game introduced this season. In “The Lion’s Share,” contestants guess the prices of grocery items to earn up to five balls. Each ball is then dropped into a wind tunnel that reveals a concealed prize amount. After each reveal, players must decide whether to take their winnings or risk it to continue.

Vanesa demonstrated unwavering determination, opting to risk her earned total of $127,500. She remarked, “The last two numbers are my daughter’s birthday — I have to go,” before pointing to her daughter in the audience and saying, “For you, baby.”
The gamble paid off when she unveiled the second of four $100,000 balls hidden in the game. “Vanesa, we’re almost up to a quarter-million dollars,” Carey noted, as the contestant reveled in the excitement. “More one ball to go.”
The final ball revealed a luxurious “mother-daughter trip” to Morocco worth $12,650, bringing Vanesa’s total winnings to an impressive $240,150 (before taxes). As the show approached a commercial break, Carey congratulated her, saying, “Happy retirement.”
