Taylor Frankie Paul Responds to Critics During Mikayla Matthews Controversy
Taylor Frankie Paul Responds to Criticism Amid Personal Struggles with Mikayla Matthews
Taylor Frankie Paul is addressing criticism from online commentators in the wake of her recent disputes with Mikayla Matthews, her costar from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The 31-year-old shared her thoughts via Instagram on May 11, emphasizing the value of professional advice over online opinions. “Today, I talked to a trauma specialist and my coach, and it’s validating to hear from professionals rather than keyboard warriors trying to tell me what to do,” she stated.
The recent tensions between Paul and Matthews stem from ongoing legal issues involving Paul’s ex-partner, Dakota Mortensen. In February, Paul temporarily lost custody of their son Ever following an alleged domestic incident. Although the police chose not to press charges, the situation has garnered significant media attention.
In her Instagram Stories, Paul expressed gratitude to those who have supported her through her challenges, including professionals and personal contacts. “Just another big thank you for the astounding support,” she wrote, highlighting contributions from therapists, attorneys, and friends.
Tensions escalated further on May 6, when Matthews publicly clarified her stance regarding Paul. A fan called out Matthews for not showing support during Paul’s struggles, prompting Matthews to describe the comment as “interesting.” She later expressed her frustration, stating, “I’d genuinely love to see how you’d handle being in the same position we’re in.”
Responding to accusations of being unsupportive, Matthews explained that while she empathizes with Paul, she refuses to enable harmful behavior. “It is not my job to enable poor or dangerous behavior from either party, especially when children are involved,” Matthews stated.
Paul, however, rebuffed Matthews’ portrayal of their friendship, alleging that her costar has been waiting for her downfall. “I rarely, if ever, cried to her for help,” Paul asserted, hinting at the complexities of their friendship.
The public back-and-forth between the two has drawn attention not only for its personal nature but also for its implications as production of Mormon Wives season 5 resumes. Paul has raised concerns about the dynamics of filming alongside Matthews given their current estrangement.
In light of these developments, Matthews reiterated her belief in maintaining boundaries for her own well-being. “Someone can be hurting and still hurt people around them in the process,” she wrote, emphasizing her commitment to addressing harmful patterns.
As this saga unfolds, the impact on both women’s lives and their professional endeavors remains to be seen.
