Man Arrested in Long Beach for Chain-Snatching Incident
Man Arrested in Series of Robberies in Long Beach
A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a string of chain-snatching robberies that took place last Monday on Martin Luther King Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Anthony Stevens was apprehended on Tuesday and booked at Long Beach City Jail on charges of robbery and possession of a loaded firearm.
Police reported that Stevens’ bail has been set at $250,000. The case has been forwarded to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office for review and potential filing.
In light of these incidents, police are advising the public on safety measures to avoid becoming victims of street robberies. Recommendations include minimizing phone use and distractions, walking in groups, staying in well-lit and populated areas, keeping valuables concealed, avoiding lingering near curb edges, and seeking assistance if feeling unsafe.
