Big Mistakes and Death By Lightning Lead the Way in Gotham TV Awards Nominations
Netflix Leads Nominations for Gotham Television Awards
Netflix’s period miniseries Death By Lightning and comedy series Big Mistakes each garnered four nominations, making them the front-runners for the upcoming Gotham Television Awards. The streaming giant topped all platforms with a total of 22 nominations, as determined by a voting committee comprising critics, journalists, festival programmers, and film curators, organized by the Gotham Film & Media Institute.
Winners of the third annual Gotham TV Awards will be announced on June 1 during a ceremony at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
Following close behind, HBO Max received 19 nominations. Both Netflix and HBO Max secured all nomination slots in the Breakthrough Comedy Series and Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series categories.
In the Breakthrough Comedy Series category, Big Mistakes competes alongside Netflix’s Long Story Short and Too Much, as well as HBO Max’s The Chair Company and I Love LA. The series Big Mistakes also received acting nominations for creator Dan Levy, as well as co-stars Taylor Ortega and Laurie Metcalf.
In the Limited/Anthology Series category, Death By Lightning is nominated alongside Netflix’s Beef Season 2 and Lord of the Flies, with HBO Max’s DTF St. Louis and Richard Gadd’s Half Man. Death By Lightning received additional acting nominations for Matthew Macfadyen, Michael Shannon, and Nick Offerman.
Hulu and Apple TV followed with six nominations each in the competitive race among networks and streamers. Several series, including Netflix’s Beef and HBO Max’s I Love LA and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, received three nominations apiece.
