New Lane Closures Ahead on the 5 Freeway in Castaic Area
Lane Closures Scheduled on 5 Freeway Near Castaic for Pavement Rehabilitation
Starting Monday, the 5 Freeway near Castaic will experience lane closures in both directions as part of an ongoing pavement rehabilitation project. The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced that these closures will affect one lane each of the northbound and southbound freeway between Lake Hughes Road and three miles south of Templin Highway.
The lane closures are set to occur daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., expected to last until next Friday. This work is part of a broader project initiated in 2022 aimed at improving roadway conditions in the area.
The current construction efforts include replacing concrete slabs, upgrading drainage systems and guardrails, and conducting slope repairs through rock scaling. Additionally, crews will install geogrid and construct a retaining wall to enhance safety and stability along this busy corridor.
