Caroline Kennedy’s Son Jack Schlossberg Shares Her Fun Reaction to the ‘Love Story’ Portrayal: “It’s Just Fiction”
The recent conclusion of Season 1 of Ryan Murphy’s Love Story has prompted reflections from one of its real-life subjects regarding her portrayal in the series.
Jack Schlossberg recently shared his mother Caroline Kennedy‘s thoughts on Grace Gummer’s representation of her in Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, which dramatizes the romance and tragic death of her late brother.
“Actually, I showed [my mom] a clip of her, and we were laughing so hard,” Schlossberg said during an appearance on Next Question with Katie Couric. “The person [Gummer] was freaking out, and we’re just laughing so hard, as if that’s how my mom acts.”
Schlossberg, who is a candidate for Congress from Manhattan, described the series as a “stupid show,” cautioning viewers that while it may be entertaining, it is still a work of fiction.

He also expressed amusement over the portrayal of his father, Edwin Schlossberg, noting, “the most stylish guy I’ve ever met,” depicted in the show wearing a plaid suit.
As the nephew of John F. Kennedy Jr., Schlossberg made it clear that he harbors no ill will toward fans of the show. “I’m glad. My Uncle John was so cool. It’s not surprising that people, once they remember who he was, want to dress like him and be like him,” he said. “He was awesome. He was a smart, attractive person who cared about politics and tried to blend politics and media in his time, like I’m trying to do right now with social media and politics in our campaign.”
However, Schlossberg expressed concern about the public’s perception of his family, stating, “We have a lot of serious problems facing our country. And my family, we’re not just celebrities; we’re public servants. It’s easy to remember my grandfather, my grandmother, my uncle, who were very glamorous people, as just celebrities. But they were public servants. We’re not royalty; we don’t have a royal family in this country.”
Season 1 of FX’s Love Story delves into the romantic journey of JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette, whose seemingly idyllic relationship faced mounting pressures from the relentless scrutiny of the media. Their love story ultimately ended in tragedy when his private plane crashed into the ocean off the coast of Massachusetts on a hazy summer night.
Previously, Schlossberg had criticized series creator Ryan Murphy for “profiting off of [their story] in a grotesque way.”
