Clippers Rookie Yanic Konan Niederhauser Will Miss the Rest of the Season
Rookie Center Yanic Konan Niederhauser Injured, Ends Season Early
Los Angeles Clippers rookie Yanic Konan Niederhauser will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn ligament in his right foot. The 7-foot Swiss center sustained the injury during a 130-107 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night.
Following the game, Niederhauser was diagnosed with a Lisfranc injury, which affects the ligaments or bones in the mid-foot. The Clippers announced that he will require surgery for the injury.
Niederhauser’s season had shown promise; he averaged 4.3 points and 2.9 rebounds in 41 games. Selected 30th overall in last year’s NBA draft, Niederhauser began the season in the G League but increased his playing time following a trade that sent Ivica Zubac to another team last month.
In his last five games, he demonstrated significant improvement, shooting 52% from the floor and averaging 8.2 points and 6.2 rebounds over 18 minutes per game. His early exit from the season represents a setback for both Niederhauser and the Clippers as they proceed through the remainder of the season.
