SAG-AFTRA and Studios Continue Talks Next Week as WGA Discussions Approach
SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP announced today that negotiations will extend into the week of March 9, marking the final phase of discussions in the current round of talks.
This extension is critical, as it coincides with the upcoming April 16 negotiations between the AMPTP and the WGA. If no agreement is reached next week, SAG-AFTRA will be relegated to a later negotiation period in June, following the AMPTP’s scheduled discussions with the WGA and the DGA. SAG-AFTRA’s existing contract expired on June 30.
Watch on Deadline
Both SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP have maintained a media blackout since negotiations began. Reports suggest that progress has been made, prompting the decision to extend discussions rather than pause them.
Despite some advancements, significant gaps remain on key issues, according to insider sources. It is reported that proposals may be exchanged today, potentially helping to resolve outstanding differences and influencing the likelihood of a deal next week.
