John Gore Studios Acquires AI Producer Deep Fusion
John Gore Studios Expands AI Production Capabilities with Acquisition of Deep Fusion Films
John Gore Studios has taken a significant step into the AI production sector with its acquisition of Deep Fusion Films, a UK indie known for its ethical approach to artificial intelligence in media. This move marks a notable expansion for the company, which is helmed by the acclaimed 25-time Tony Award-winning producer.
Founded in 2023 by producer-director Ben Field, Chief Creative Officer Jamie Anderson, and Executive Chair Andrew Keats, Deep Fusion Films has built a reputation over the past three years for integrating AI into its projects. The company has also collaborated with industry bodies like Pact and the union Equity on AI-related initiatives and is developing tools aimed at streamlining production processes.
As part of the acquisition, John Gore Studios plans to utilize Deep Fusion’s established AI tools and workflows, while the indie will maintain oversight of its ongoing projects with its senior team intact.
Deep Fusion has previously partnered with John Gore Studios on the program Hammer Heroes: Legends and Monsters, timed with the 90th anniversary of the iconic horror studio. The project notably resurrected legendary actor Peter Cushing using AI technology. Other projects include Virtually Parkinson, a podcast replicating the interview style of British journalist Michael Parkinson through artificial intelligence. Currently, Deep Fusion is working on Hunt: We Need to Talk About James, a feature documentary that delves into the life and legacy of British Formula One World Champion James Hunt.
John Gore, the founder of John Gore Studios, expressed confidence in Deep Fusion’s vision, stating, “They understand instinctively that the film and television industry has always evolved through the creation of new tools, but the core of the craft has stayed the same: talent, imagination and collaboration.” He emphasized that the partnership will enhance their creative endeavors without sacrificing the artistry that defines filmmaking.
Ben Field, of Deep Fusion, highlighted the advantages of joining the John Gore team: “Being part of a studio that values heritage, craft, and long-term thinking allows us to expand what we do, collaborate more widely, and continue developing formats and techniques that genuinely move the industry forward.”
John Gore Studios, launched early last year with veteran producer Hilary Strong as CEO, is also known for managing several notable labels, including Hammer Films and Silver Salt Restoration. The recent acquisition was led by Chief Acquisition Officer Jonathan Lack.
