Nicole Kidman Stars in ‘Scarpetta’: A Glimpse Into Her Role as a Determined Detective Tracking a Serial Killer
Nicole Kidman will star as Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a medical examiner intent on exposing a serial killer, in the upcoming Prime Video series Scarpetta, debuting March 11. The first trailer, showcasing the gripping quest for justice, is available for viewing.
Based on Patricia Cornwell’s acclaimed Kay Scarpetta book series, Scarpetta follows the titular character as she navigates a haunting investigation. Armed with keen analytical skills and a relentless drive, Dr. Scarpetta aims to give a voice to the victims while confronting a case from 28 years ago that threatens to jeopardize her career.
The series intricately weaves together two timelines, exploring not only crime scenes but also the psychological depth of both perpetrators and investigators. It juxtaposes Scarpetta’s past in the late 1990s with her current return to her hometown, where she reignites her career amid a fresh murder investigation. Alongside her pursuit of justice, she grapples with complicated family dynamics, particularly her strained relationship with sister Dorothy Farinelli, played by Jamie Lee Curtis.
The cast features several award-winning actors, including Bobby Cannavale as Detective Pete Marino, Simon Baker as FBI profiler Benton Wesley, and Ariana DeBose as Kay’s tech-savvy niece, Lucy Watson.
Additional cast members include Rosy McEwen, Amanda Righetti, Jake Cannavale, and Hunter Parrish, who portray younger versions of Kidman, Curtis, Cannavale, and Baker’s characters, respectively.
The trailer, which hints at the series’ intense narrative and character dynamics, is available for viewers.
