Chris Kreider Shines with Two Goals as Ducks Overcome Golden Knights
Anaheim Ducks Triumph Over Vegas Golden Knights, Completing Season Sweep
In a closely contested matchup on Sunday night, the Anaheim Ducks secured a 4-3 victory against the Vegas Golden Knights, completing a three-game season sweep. Chris Kreider emerged as a standout player, scoring two goals, while goalkeeper Lukas Dostal made 27 saves.
The Ducks now boast an impressive record, having won eight of their last ten games. Despite an early lead of 3-0, they faced pressure from Vegas during a tense third period, nearly allowing the Golden Knights to stage a comeback.
Mitch Marner and Ivan Barbashev continued their scoring streak for the Golden Knights, each netting goals for the third consecutive game. However, the team is struggling, having lost five straight games and seven of their last eight. This downturn follows a previously strong performance, where they achieved eight wins in ten games.
Kreider’s first goal opened the scoring late in the first period, as a puck from Ryan Poehling deflected off his leg and found the net. He followed up with his second goal early in the second period, marking his first multi-goal game since joining Anaheim from the New York Rangers last June.
Cutter Gauthier added to the Ducks’ tally, scoring his 24th goal, which highlighted their power play effectiveness with five goals in five games. Meanwhile, Mark Stone’s pass inadvertently set up Marner’s goal, as it deflected off two Ducks players.
In the third period, Vegas mounted a stronger effort, with Barbashev capitalizing on a loose puck in the crease after Dostal failed to secure Jack Eichel’s shot.
The Ducks welcomed back right wing Troy Terry, who returned after an 11-game absence due to an upper-body injury. Center Mason McTavish also rejoined the lineup after missing five games.
As Anaheim embarks on a nine-game homestand following a five-game road trip, the team celebrated its eighth consecutive sellout at the arena. Notably, they will not play another away game until March 10.
