Long Beach Residents Annoyed by Vandalism of Christmas Inflatables and Holiday Decorations
Vandals Target Christmas Decorations in East Long Beach
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Residents of East Long Beach are expressing frustration as a series of vandalism incidents have resulted in the destruction of Christmas inflatables and holiday decorations near El Dorado Park. The damage has struck a chord in the community, with many feeling hurt and financially impacted by the actions of the vandals.
Home security footage reveals individuals, believed to be juveniles, riding a red e-bike while slashing holiday inflatables in various neighborhoods. According to local resident Kat Villarreal, they are not alone in their distress; similar acts have been noted just blocks from her own residence. Villarreal, who discovered her decorations punctured and deflated a few nights ago, described the damage as significant. "This is how big the slashes they’re doing, so it’s not replaceable," she said.
The video evidence illustrates the nonchalant behavior of the suspects as they target decorations. In one instance captured on camera, a vandal can be seen popping multiple inflatables in the vicinity of Villarreal’s home. "Going around popping all these and laughing and thinking it’s really funny, and it’s not funny, it’s hurtful," she remarked, adding that the entire neighborhood shares in the sorrow over the incidents.
In response to the ongoing vandalism, Villarreal and her partner have filed a police report, urging local authorities to take action. "The whole neighborhood is sad. It’s really, really sad," she said, emphasizing their desire for justice and understanding about the time, money, and effort invested in creating a festive environment.
Residents hope that the vandals recognize the impact of their actions. Villarreal noted, "The kids love walking around this corner and seeing all the decorations. I felt sad. I want them back up. Everyone loves them, but I think that I’m going to replace them. I mean, it’s not cheap."
The Long Beach Police Department has been made aware of the situation. On December 20, 2025, police received a call requesting increased patrols in response to reports of juveniles in the area. However, officers reported finding no evidence of vandalism or theft at that time. They encourage residents to report any suspicious activity by calling 911 for emergencies or their dispatch line at 562-435-6711.
As the holiday season continues, East Long Beach residents remain hopeful for an end to the vandalism and a restoration of their neighborhood’s festive spirit.
