Zendaya Looks Effortlessly Chic in a Dress Inspired by Whitney Houston and Carrie Bradshaw
Zendaya Honors Iconic Women at Essence Awards
Zendaya made a stunning entrance at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards in Los Angeles on March 12, showcasing a red-carpet look that paid homage to two cultural icons: Whitney Houston and Carrie Bradshaw, the fictional character from *Sex and the City*. The actress and singer wore a striking white gown designed by Eugene Stutzman, which featured intricate gold detailing and a standout fabric flower on the shoulder.
The *Spider-Man* star radiated confidence and elegance, capturing the attention of photographers as she posed and laughed at the event.
Zendaya’s stylist, Law Roach, shared the look on social media, calling it “an ICONIC piece of fashion history at Essence Women in Hollywood today” on X. He later expressed his excitement on Instagram, stating, “And just like that…. I found it!!”
Roach highlighted the dress’s rich history, noting that Houston wore the design for the cover of *Life* in 1987, a tribute to her legacy following her death in 2012. Additionally, Sarah Jessica Parker donned the same dress during the opening credits of *Sex and The City: The Movie* in 2008.
This fashionable moment comes shortly after Roach made headlines by seemingly confirming that Zendaya had married Tom Holland in private. “The wedding has already happened,” he revealed in a now-viral video, teasing that the public missed it.
Looking ahead, Zendaya has several projects lined up, including a leading role opposite Robert Pattinson in *The Drama* and the long-awaited third season of HBO’s *Euphoria*, both set to premiere in April.
However, recent developments surrounding *Euphoria* have stirred controversy. Labrinth, who composed music for the series and collaborated with Zendaya on the soundtrack hit “I’m Tired,” posted a scathing message on Instagram, expressing his frustration with the industry and the show, saying, “I’M DONE WITH THIS INDUSTRY. F–K COLUMBIA. DOUBLE F–K EUPHORIA.”
