Wobbly Life: Exciting TV Adaptation in Development by RubberBandGames, Adrian Askarieh, and Prime Universe Films
Videogame Company RubberBandGames Partners with Adrian Askarieh and Prime Universe Films to Develop ‘Wobbly Life’ for Film and Television
RubberBandGames has announced a collaboration with producer Adrian Askarieh and Prime Universe Films to adapt the popular video game Wobbly Life for both film and television.
Prime Universe Films has a strong reputation in the gaming community, having produced two Hitman films featuring Timothy Olyphant and Rupert Friend, based on IO Interactive’s renowned franchise. Askarieh is also serving as Executive Producer on the Hitman television series currently in development at 20th Television.
“I was drawn right away to Wobbly Life’s playful world and the quirky characters that have enchanted millions of players,” said Askarieh. “Its meteoric growth shows the strength of the universe, and I’m excited to work with RubberBandGames to bring it into film and television. This world has a tone, identity, and characters that lend themselves to storytelling across multiple formats.”
Released as an open-world sandbox experience, Wobbly Life allows one to four players to explore a lively island, complete various odd jobs, and engage in imaginative missions. The game recently expanded its universe beyond the island itself, achieving significant success. Since its launch, Wobbly Life has sold 2.8 million units worldwide and boasts 6 million players across all platforms and subscription services. With over 10 million monthly user sessions and more than 2 billion views on YouTube, the title ranks within the top five best-selling games on the Nintendo Switch in the U.S., UK, France, Germany, and Japan.
Player engagement soared in 2023, with more than 60 million hours played across all platforms following the introduction of the Space Update.
“From day one, the success of Wobbly Life has been driven by the community,” stated Tom Dunn, founder of RubberBandGames. “The team and I have been blown away by the huge growth this year and we’re thrilled to see Wobbly Life take its first steps into film and TV. We expect 2026 to be even bigger.”
In addition to Hitman, Prime Universe’s portfolio includes an action-comedy reboot of TJ Hooker in development at Netflix, in partnership with 2.0 Productions, and The Last Bear, an adaptation of the best-selling book currently in production at Studio Canal and ZQ Entertainment, directed by Bertie Ellwood.
Askarieh’s representation for the deal was handled by Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Feldman, Rogal, Shikora & Clark, while RubberBandGames was represented by Thomas Dunn.
