Wes Anderson Tribute: A Special Evening at the Hollywood Bowl
LA Phil to Feature All-Star Lineup for Wes Anderson Concert at Hollywood Bowl
The Los Angeles Philharmonic has announced an impressive roster of special guests for the upcoming “Music from the Films of Wes Anderson” event, set to take place in July at the Hollywood Bowl. The lineup includes prominent artists such as Beck, Jackson Browne, Ami Dang, Britt Daniel, Jeff Goldblum, Jim James, Mark Mothersbaugh, Karen O, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Rufus Wainwright, and Iryna Orlova, who will lead the Ukrainian Mosaic Orchestra featuring balalaikas and domras. Additional guests are expected to be revealed soon.
Scheduled for July 10-12, the shows will highlight music from some of Anderson’s most iconic films. Each evening’s performance will feature different guest artists, with concerts starting at 8 p.m. on July 10 and 11, and a special all-star house band show at 7 p.m. on July 12. The performances will be conducted by Thomas Wilkins and involve scores and soundtrack selections that pay homage to Anderson’s unique cinematic style.
These concerts are the result of a collaborative effort between Wes Anderson and his long-time music supervisor and producer, Randall Poster, and will include film clips showcasing moments from Anderson’s extensive filmography. “I can’t wait for people to see what we have in store for them at the Hollywood Bowl,” Poster commented. “We have a dream lineup of musicians paying tribute to the music from Wes’ films, plus a lot of friends helping us create special experiences for fans on and off the stage. This is a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of Wes’ brilliant work and all the musicians who have played a role in it.”
Some of Anderson’s most celebrated films, such as "Rushmore," "The Royal Tenenbaums," "Fantastic Mr. Fox," "The Grand Budapest Hotel," and "Asteroid City," will be featured during the concert series.
Beyond the musical performances, the Hollywood Bowl will transform into an immersive experience reflecting Wes Anderson’s distinctive aesthetic. Attendees can expect themed displays, curated treats, and exclusive merchandise from various program partners, including ABKCO Music & Records, Accidentally Wes Anderson, Air Mail, BonBon, The Criterion Collection, and Montblanc.
Tickets for the concerts have been available since May 5, with options for the Hollywood Bowl’s summer season accessible online or by phone. Each night promises to be a vibrant celebration of the beloved filmmaker’s artistry, captivating fans both on stage and throughout the venue.
