Weruche Opia and Pablo Schreiber Join Cast of Peacock’s ‘The Day of the Jackal’ Season 2
Actresses Weruche Opia and Pablo Schreiber have been announced as new series regulars in the second season of Peacock and Sky’s critically acclaimed series, The Day of the Jackal. They will join Eddie Redmayne, who reprises his role as the titular assassin.
Based on Frederick Forsyth’s novel and the 1973 film adaptation, the series centers on the Jackal, an exceptionally skilled lone assassin who undertakes contracts for the highest bidders.

The inaugural season of The Day of the Jackal garnered strong praise and achieved record viewership. In the UK, it became the largest new series launch in Sky’s history. Meanwhile, in the U.S., it ranked among the Top 10 streaming original dramas during its premiere week on November 14, 2024, and maintained a presence in the Top 10 through its finale week on December 12, 2024, according to Nielsen.
The series is produced by Gareth Neame, Nigel Marchant, and Marianne Buckland of Carnival Films, along with executive producers Redmayne, David Harrower, Brian Kirk, Sam Hoyle, Sue Naegle, and Ronan Bennett. NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution is responsible for the show’s international sales.
Weruche Opia is recognized for her role as Terry in HBO’s I May Destroy You, a performance that earned her a BAFTA TV nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She recently completed filming for Netflix’s Ladies First and will appear in the Amazon limited series Bait, portraying Riz Ahmed’s agent. Opia also starred as Coretta Scott King in Hulu/Disney+’s Genius MLK/X.
Pablo Schreiber is currently featured in Netflix’s miniseries His & Hers and the action thriller Motor City. He gained fame for his portrayal of George “Pornstache” Mendez in Orange Is the New Black, earning an Emmy Award nomination, and as Master Chief in Paramount+’s Halo. His television credits include The Wire, Weeds, and American Gods, while his filmography features titles such as Den of Thieves, The Manchurian Candidate, First Man, and Skyscraper. Schreiber is set to appear next in the upcoming Apple TV series The Savant, alongside Jessica Chastain.
