WBD’s Cable Networks Spin-off: How Diddy and Baylen Dupree Are Making an Impact
Warner Bros. Discovery Moves Forward with Sale and New Corporate Structure
Warner Bros. Discovery is currently undergoing a significant transformation as it gears up to sell its studios and streaming division. This strategic move is expected to lead to the establishment of Discovery Global, which will oversee the company’s cable networks.
Gunnar Wiedenfels, the CFO of Warner Bros. Discovery, is set to lead Discovery Global. This new entity will include various channels, such as TLC, Discovery Channel, HGTV, TNT, Investigation Discovery, TruTV, Animal Planet, Cartoon Network, and CNN.
The company recently celebrated its achievements in the cable network sector, noting that their networks collectively launched 18 of the top 25 new cable originals in 2025, excluding news and sports, according to Nielsen data.
For adults aged 25-54, Warner Bros. Discovery highlighted its success with TLC’s Baylen Out Loud, which emerged as the biggest new show of the year. The network also claimed eight of the top ten and four of the top ten ad-supported cable networks.
Alongside Baylen Out Loud, the top ten newcomers included Investigation Discovery’s The Fall of Diddy, HGTV’s The Flip Off, and TLC’s The Baldwins.
“Our networks are all about creating the shows fans love, whether it’s focused on relationships, true crime, cooking competitions, home transformations, or adult animation,” stated Howard Lee, Chief Creative Officer of U.S. Networks at Warner Bros. Discovery. “Next year, we’re turning it up even more with thousands of hours of new content across our brands to keep audiences engaged and entertained while also delivering advertisers unmatched opportunities.”
Non-Warner Bros. Discovery titles appearing in the top 25 included Bravo’s Denise Richards’ Wild Things, USA Network’s Everything on the Menu, and Bravo’s Next Gen NYC, among others.
Baylen Out Loud ranked as the number one freshman series among adults and women aged 25-54 in primetime. The show, produced by Michael Levitt Productions, follows Baylen Dupree, a young woman with Tourette syndrome, and premiered in January. It was quickly renewed for a second season.
The company also noted other accomplishments, such as Adult Swim’s Smiling Friends being the top cable show among adults aged 18-34. Additionally, Puppy Bowl XXI achieved its highest ratings to date, and The Flip Off from HGTV was renewed for a second season, marking its status as the network’s highest-rated freshman series among adults aged 25-54 since 2022.
