Warner Bros. Announces Release Dates for Upcoming Films
Warner Bros. has officially set the release dates for two upcoming projects: the sci-fi thriller The Flood, directed by Zach Cregger, and a spinoff of Weapons titled Gladys. The Flood is scheduled to hit theaters on August 11, 2028, while Gladys will be released on September 8, 2028. While Cregger is helming The Flood, he will produce Gladys and co-write the film with Zach Shields, with Roy Lee also serving as a producer.
“Zach is the rarest of filmmakers, fluent in every genre he touches, and we’re excited to continue our partnership,” said Richard Brener, President of New Line Cinema.
Cregger’s previous film, Weapons, dominated the domestic box office for three consecutive weeks, grossing $269 million globally, making it one of the highest-grossing horror films of 2025.
“Zach is the kind of filmmaker we prize—one committed to creating unforgettable theatrical experiences,” noted Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, co-heads of Warner Bros. Picture Group. “We value the collaborative spirit he brings to every stage of the process and look forward to continuing our work together.”
Cregger’s debut as a writer-director came with 2022’s Barbarian, which was produced on a $4 million budget and earned $45 million worldwide, receiving acclaim from both critics and audiences. He has previously collaborated with New Line Cinema on Companion, which he produced. His upcoming project, Resident Evil, based on the popular video game franchise, is set to be released in September.
“I’m incredibly excited to continue my partnership with Mike, Pam, Richard, and the teams at Warner Bros. and New Line,” Cregger expressed. “They are true champions of bold creativity, united by a shared ambition to deliver unforgettable theatrical experiences for audiences. That’s the dream for any filmmaker.”
In addition to these films, Warner Bros. has also announced the release of an Oceans prequel starring Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper, slated for June 25, 2027, with Cooper directing. Other upcoming releases include Final Destination 7 on May 12, 2028, and The Revenge of La Llorona on April 9, 2027. Additionally, Baz Luhrmann’s untitled Joan of Arc film is set for November 22, 2028.
