Carolina Lightcap, Former Disney and Discovery Executive, Starts ShowUp Studios to Create Engaging Gen Z Content on YouTube and TikTok
Carolina Lightcap, a former executive at Disney and Discovery Latin America, has teamed up with three seasoned industry professionals to launch ShowUp Studios. This new venture will focus on creating content tailored for Gen Z on platforms such as YouTube and TikTok.
Lightcap, who also leads LightCubed Media, has held prominent roles in the entertainment sector, including President of Disney Channels Worldwide and Chief Content Officer of Discovery Latin America and U.S. Hispanic. At ShowUp Studios, she collaborates with Mariano Chihade, Demián Falestchi, and Federico Lauría.
The company has kicked off a pre-seed funding round and plans to host presentations in the latter half of the year. These showcases aim to introduce its intellectual property to advertisers prior to beginning production on its programs.
ShowUp Studios intends to create Gen Z-centric content using a model that emphasizes free programming on digital platforms, supported by advertising and brand partnerships.

With ambitious goals, the studio aims to produce more than 4,500 episodes within its first five years. The content will encompass various genres, formats, and runtimes, featuring both vertical and horizontal video, as well as live-action and animated works.
Based in Madrid, Lightcap will lead the new initiative. “ShowUp Studios was born with the ambition to build a studio and digital premium content ecosystem that is scalable and deeply centered on Gen Z—meeting this generation on the platforms where they already live; ensuring their voice is present at every stage of the process, and listening to their feedback as an audience day-by-day to deliver the content they are looking for,” she explained.
The team at ShowUp Studios brings diverse expertise from across the entertainment industry. Chihade is the founder of the independent production company Mandarina. Falestchi established Kidscorp, an advertising technology firm focused on engaging young audiences in Latin America. Lauría is the creator of Dale Play, which operates within music, gaming, live events, and management.
