Vietnamese Fugitive Extradited in Connection with OC Drive-By Shooting of 15-Year-Old
21-Year-Old Fugitive Extradited from Vietnam Faces Murder Charges in California
ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. – Quoc-Bao Viet Le, a 21-year-old man, has been extradited from Vietnam to face murder charges stemming from a July 2025 drive-by shooting in Stanton that left one teenager dead and another injured.
Le was booked into the Orange County Jail on January 21 after authorities completed a months-long international manhunt, which involved the FBI and local law enforcement, as confirmed by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
On July 5, 2025, five individuals allegedly gathered in Garden Grove to plan the shooting targeting rival gang members. Investigators report that the group traveled to the 11000 block of Court Street in Stanton in a black Mercedes-Benz with concealed license plates. Shortly before 2 p.m., they confronted 15-year-old Samuel Vidal and his 13-year-old friend.
Le, along with 24-year-old Danny Huynh, is accused of firing at the teenagers. Vidal sustained five gunshot wounds and died at the scene, while the 13-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the chest but survived. Le fled to Vietnam just four days after the murder but was apprehended at the request of the FBI.
Currently, Huynh and another suspect, Troy Quang Lu, are in custody. However, a fourth suspect, Ali Ibrahim Alsouqi, is believed to be in Jordan, and the identity of a fifth co-conspirator remains unknown to authorities.
“This cold-blooded murder of a young man was planned and executed,” said Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer. “We will go to the absolute ends of the earth in the pursuit of justice.”
Akil Davis, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, stated, “Fleeing the country after allegedly committing murder will not protect you from U.S. law enforcement. The FBI has offices throughout the world and liaisons with our international partners to pursue fugitives wherever they may hide.”
Le faces charges that include one felony count each of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and shooting into an inhabited dwelling. If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of 50 years to life in prison. Efforts to locate and extradite Alsouqi are ongoing, as is the search for the unidentified fifth suspect.
