Ventura County Resident Taken into Custody for Filming Inappropriate Acts with a Minor
Authorities Seek Additional Victims Following Arrest in Child Exploitation Case
Investigators are looking for more potential victims after the arrest of a Thousand Oaks man accused of engaging in sexual acts with a minor and posting videos of those acts online. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 36-year-old Carlos Reid on Monday, citing various charges related to child exploitation.
The investigation into Reid commenced in April 2023 after a victim reported an encounter with him in Agoura. The juvenile victim alleged that Reid groomed him over time, ultimately persuading him to participate in sexual acts in Thousand Oaks. According to police, those acts were recorded and subsequently shared by Reid on online platforms for financial gain.
Last month, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Reid’s residence and uncovered evidence linking him to the accused crimes. As of Thursday, he was being held on a $100,000 bail and was scheduled for a court appearance later that day.
Detectives are concerned that additional victims may exist and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Individuals can reach out to the authorities at (805) 371-8309 or via email.
