Valerie Bertinelli Reflects on Her Body Image Journey and Finding Self-Acceptance
Valerie Bertinelli Launches New Digital Platform, ‘Valerie’s Place’
Actress, cookbook author, and Emmy-winning host Valerie Bertinelli has introduced ‘Valerie’s Place,’ a new digital platform aimed at enhancing her connection with fans. This subscription-based community, developed in collaboration with Visible Things, is now accessible through the App Store, Google Play, and ValeriesPlace.com. The platform offers a mix of cherished content from Valerie’s Home Cooking, alongside fresh programming, interactive cook-alongs, and exclusive experiences.
The platform’s debut coincides with the release of her latest book, Getting Naked, set to launch on March 10. The book delves into themes of aging, self-acceptance, and healing. Additionally, Bertinelli is preparing for her upcoming Lifetime film Love, Again, which will premiere on May 9. In an exclusive interview, Bertinelli discussed her new projects, wellness routine, and the importance of self-care.
“It’s very hard in this day and age to get a show sold, shot, and on the air,” Bertinelli remarked. “I’ve missed doing cooking content. The algorithm has always frustrated me, as it has everyone else. Now I can do three cooking shows, a book group, and a podcast, all in one place. If you like my content, you have a place to go, Valerie’s Place!”
Bertinelli expressed relief at establishing her own platform. “It is so much easier with my own platform,” she stated. “We work with a smaller group, and I can work in my own home with my animals roaming in and out of the kitchen. I have the same culinary producer that I’ve had for a long time, Sophie Clark. Now I can actually engage with my audience through live cooking segments and discussions about books.”
The actress emphasized the importance of self-acceptance as she ages. “Your beauty really is in your heart. It’s about how you treat yourself and others,” she said. “Our bodies are going to age; there’s no getting around it. Why not enjoy the process? Let’s be grateful and enjoy ourselves!”
Bertinelli also reflected on her past struggles with self-image. “I’ve spent far too many years hating my body for no reason whatsoever, except my internal self-loathing,” she admitted. “I’m just not gonna do that anymore.”
Additionally, Bertinelli discussed her method of coping with grief, noting the resilience of the heart. “The heart is an incredibly resilient muscle. You can feel great pain and great joy at the same time,” she explained. “That’s the wonder of being human.”
While her personal life currently lacks a dating aspect, she remains focused on her work. “I don’t have a dating life, and I don’t know when I will again. I’m pretty gun-shy at the moment,” she shared.
Bertinelli revealed her skincare routine, saying, “I’ve noticed a huge difference in my skin. I try to stay as hydrated as possible. I’ve never been great at a skincare routine, but it’s never too late to learn.”
As she looks forward to the future, Bertinelli maintains a positive outlook. “We’re never done until we say we’re done. I’m a bit of a scrapper,” she remarked. “I love doing nothing, resting, and recharging my battery. Don’t let anyone tell you that when you’re at rest, you’re lazy.”
