USC Women’s Basketball Dominates Northwestern and Keeps Winning Streak Alive
USC Women’s Basketball Triumphs Over Northwestern in 83-65 Victory
EVANSTON, Ill. — The USC women’s basketball team secured an impressive 83-65 win against Northwestern at Welsh-Ryan Arena on Thursday night, marking their third consecutive victory.
Freshman Jazzy Davidson and redshirt freshman Laura Williams played pivotal roles in establishing an early advantage, leading the Trojans on an 11-0 run that set the tone for the game.
“I feel like as a team with these last couple of games, we’ve improved a lot,” said sophomore guard Kennedy Smith. “We’ve stayed consistent and are playing together and growing as a team, and that starts in practice. Just a lot of conversations about being better, obviously through that stretch of losses, but that doesn’t define us. I think the games matter the most in February and March, so we’re here to be better from here on out.”
USC (14-9, 6-6 Big Ten) effectively capitalized on Northwestern’s (8-15, 2-10) early struggles, forcing six turnovers in the first quarter and converting those errors into 15 points.
Davidson led the Trojans with 21 points and a team-high six assists, while Dunn added 18 points. Smith recorded the second double-double of her career, finishing the game with 17 points and a season-high 11 rebounds.
Grace Sullivan was Northwestern’s standout player, scoring 24 points. However, she was the team’s only member to reach double figures in scoring.
USC’s next challenge will be against Illinois, with the game scheduled for 10 a.m. PST on Sunday.
